Darlynne's 20+ year career has spanned the gamut of youth services, theatrical management, retail confectionery, event management and education. Consistent themes of creative strategy, empathy, experimental marketing, community building, fandom and ridiculous optimism are the prevailing keys to her success in any environment or medium.

The Travelin' Geek Show

As the TravelinGeek, I offer interactive family friendly experiences designed to engage people of all ages and abilities. Weaving together improvisation, cosplay and classic childhood games, no performance with the TravelinGeek is ever the same.

​

Examples:

- PlayStory: A lively reading (with audience participation) of a fan culture oriented story followed by make and take craft/activity (Themes include but are not limited to: Time and Space Travel, Read and Seek, Superheroes) Target ages: 5-10 years old with parents present

 

- Mulitversal Madness: Part cosplay showcase, part playground game fest, MM is designed to give kids an opportunity to get the wiggles out and adults to be kids again. Participants compete for swag items (provided by client) Target Ages: 8-16 years old with parents present

 

- Create Your Own Superhero Workshop: Using theatrical and illustration techniques, we workshop as a group to create individual superhero characters.  All participants will come away from the workshop with the backstory, personality characteristics and costume ideas for their hero. Target Ages: 6-12 years old with parents present

- Family and/or Kids/Teens Cosplay Runway: Families that cosplay together have more fun together! Join the Travelin' Geek for a celebration of the bonds forged, creativity and inclusiveness that cosplay represents. Be it matching outfits, detailed recreation, or DIY costumes, this is the moment to show your love of any fandom. Families will have the opportunity to share their cosplay looks in a runway style presentation. While groups are encouraged, children and young adults can walk the runway without caregivers as well. All participants will receive a certificate of participation, exclusive sticker and the opportunity to receive one of three prizes. (Audience Choice, Entrant Raffle and Travelin'Geek Choice). Cosplayers must arrive at least 20 min prior to runway time to register. Note: A limit may be placed on cosplay participants based on time alottment, turn out and room capacity.
