A Hot Glass Summer for All Ages

The Corning Museum of Glass, located in Corning NY, is celebrating 75 years with a wide variety of offerings for all ages. I have always found the museum to be source of creative inspiration so I was excited to see a preview of their exclusive summer offerings this week.
There's no need to worry about bringing the whole family because children ages 17 and under are FREE everyday!
People of every age can enjoy this museum year round but from June 27 through Labor Day there are additional offerings that enhance the experience for families. Wonder Tours are offered daily at 2:30pm, Scribble Bot Saturdays, Sketch Your Idea and exclusive outdoor stage live demonstrations including the "Don't Try This At Home", the Secrets of Glass, "You Design It; We Make It" and Hot Glass "Bubblehead" demonstrations. These 30-45 minute shows are captivating and interactive so even the youngest in your group will be engaged. Additional indoor hot glass and flameworking demonstrations are also available throughout the day. Teens are not left out - the museum offers a scavenger hunt designed by teens for teens. Be sure to ask about the Trading Cards - Series 1 (Superlatives) and Series 2 (Light). These cards match to pieces on display and experiences throughout the museum - a great way to engage and catch 'em all! If you feel the need to create, be sure to book a Make Your Own Glass experience in advance of your visit.
The museum has several galleries including contemporary, innovation and historical glass. Their latest exhibit, Tough Stuff: Women in the American Glass Studio, features previously unseen works and is truly inspirational, unique and important to the history of glass making.
Everyone moves through museums at a different pace so I tend not to dictate how much time one should plan on but this museum can easily consume a whole day. Summer hours for the museum are 9am-5pm and there is an excellent cafe within the museum for lunch.
